Select, Edit & Undo
Select, move, resize, duplicate and delete annotations in ScreenSnap Pro, undo mistakes, and use the editor keyboard shortcuts on Mac and Windows.
Select annotations
Click an annotation to select it. This works with any tool active except the Eraser. The settings panel for that annotation appears next to it. Press Esc to deselect. Clicking an empty spot also deselects, but with a click-to-place tool such as Text or Counter it adds a new annotation there.
- 1Add or remove one annotation from the selection:
Shift-click it. - 2Select with a box: hold
Cmd(Mac) orCtrl(Windows) and drag across an empty part of the screenshot. Drag to the right to select only annotations that are fully inside the box; drag to the left to select everything the box touches. AddShiftto add to the current selection. - 3Select everything:
Cmd + Aon Mac,Ctrl + Aon Windows. - 4Pick one of several stacked annotations:
Option-click (Mac) orAlt-click (Windows) repeatedly to cycle through the annotations under the pointer.
The settings panel only shows when exactly one annotation is selected.
Move, resize and rotate
Drag a selected annotation to move it. To move several selected annotations together, hold Shift and drag one of them, or use the arrow keys: each press nudges the selection a small step, and Shift plus an arrow key moves it 10 times as far.
Most annotations show handles when selected. Drag a handle to resize. Rectangles, ellipses, paths, text and emoji also have a round rotate handle; hold Shift while rotating to snap in 15° steps. Arrows and lines have a handle on each end instead, and arrows also have a middle handle for bending.
Duplicate and delete
Press Cmd + D (Mac) or Ctrl + D (Windows) to duplicate the selection. The copies appear slightly offset and are selected, ready to drag into place. Press Delete or Backspace to delete the selection, or use the Eraser tool (E).
Undo and redo
Use the Undo and Redo buttons at the right end of the toolbar, or press Cmd + Z and Cmd + Shift + Z on Mac, Ctrl + Z and Ctrl + Shift + Z on Windows. Undo covers new annotations, moves, resizes, setting changes, deletions, duplicates, and also Crop and Cut.
While you are typing inside a text or callout, these keys undo and redo your typing instead. Opening a different image starts a fresh history, so you cannot undo back into the previous image.
More editor shortcuts
The keys on this page cover selecting and editing annotations. Every other editor shortcut, including Save, Save As, Copy to Clipboard, zoom and Color Picker, is listed with its Mac and Windows keys in Keyboard Shortcuts. To change a key, see Change or Turn Off Shortcuts.
