Installing ScreenSnap Pro

Download and install ScreenSnap Pro on a Mac (Apple Silicon or Intel) or a 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 PC, then open it for the first time.

System requirements

ScreenSnap Pro runs on macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later and on 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. There are separate Mac downloads for Apple Silicon and for Intel Macs, and the download page shows the current file size of each one. You need an internet connection to activate your license, check for updates, upload to the cloud and use Capture Website. Capturing, recording, editing and saving to your computer keep working offline once the app is activated.

Which Mac download do I need?

On the download page, choose Download for Apple Silicon if your Mac has an M-series chip (M1 or newer), or Download for Intel Mac for an Intel Mac. Not sure? Open the Apple menu, choose About This Mac and look at the first line: Chip (for example Apple M2) means Apple Silicon, Processor means Intel.

Install on macOS

Installing on a Mac takes a minute.

  1. 1Buy a license on the pricing page. Your license key is in the receipt email you get right after checkout.
  2. 2Download the .dmg file for your Mac from the download page.
  3. 3Open the .dmg and drag ScreenSnap Pro into the Applications folder.
  4. 4Open ScreenSnap Pro from Applications or with Spotlight (Cmd + Space, then type ScreenSnap). If macOS asks whether you want to open an app downloaded from the internet, click Open.
  5. 5The editor window opens with a short setup where you enter your license key. See First Launch and Setup.

ScreenSnap Pro has no Dock icon by default. After setup it lives in the menu bar at the top of the screen. If you want a Dock icon while the editor is open, turn on Show Dock Icon during setup or Dock Icon in Settings > General.

Install on Windows

Installing on Windows 10 or 11 takes a few clicks.

  1. 1Buy a license on the pricing page. Your license key is in the receipt email you get right after checkout.
  2. 2Download the Windows installer (.exe) from the download page.
  3. 3Double-click the installer and follow the setup wizard. The default options are fine.
  4. 4ScreenSnap Pro can start as soon as the installer finishes. If it does not, open it from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut.
  5. 5The editor window opens with a short setup where you enter your license key. See First Launch and Setup.

After setup, ScreenSnap Pro runs in the system tray on the taskbar. If you do not see its icon, click the small arrow next to the tray to show hidden icons. Clicking the ScreenSnap Pro desktop or Start menu icon again opens the editor window, as long as Open Editor on App Launch is on in Settings > General (it is on by default).

If Windows SmartScreen appears

The Windows installer is code signed. If SmartScreen still shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info and then Run anyway to continue the installation.

Reinstall or uninstall

Reinstalling on the same computer does not use up another seat: activate with the same key and the computer gets its existing seat back. Uninstalling does not free the seat, so if you are removing ScreenSnap Pro for good or passing the computer on, detach the license first.

  1. 1Open Settings > General and click Detach License under License Key, then confirm. See Activating Your License.
  2. 2Quit the app: click the ScreenSnap Pro icon in the menu bar or tray and choose Quit ScreenSnap Pro.
  3. 3On a Mac, drag ScreenSnap Pro from the Applications folder to the Trash. On Windows, remove it in Settings > Apps > Installed apps (Apps & features on Windows 10).
